Bruce Potter - Author and Advocate for Evidence-Based Teaching
Bruce Potter is an experienced educator and author. He is involved in connecting research with real-world practice through coaching, writing, and professional learning. He is a co-founder at the Center for Collaborative Expertise, where he provides customized professional learning. Bruce Potter’s work emphasizes evidence-based practices, teacher clarity, and visible learning frameworks that improve student outcomes and strengthen instructional leadership.
In addition to his consulting work, Bruce Potter co-authored “Grading Visible Learners: Viewing Learning with Fluidity, Not Finality” with Dave Nagel. The book reflects his belief that assessment should be a continuous, growth-centered process that supports both teachers and students in understanding learning as a dynamic journey. He has also shared his insights at national conferences, including the Annual Visible Learning Conference and the National School Boards Association.
Between 2022 and 2024, Mr. Potter served as the director of innovation for the Green Island Union Free School District. Under his leadership, the district’s fourth-grade ELA proficiency scores surpassed state averages by 29 percent in 2024.
